Galaxy Note 8 to launch on August 23, confirms Samsung as new leaked renders show dual cameras

After months of buzz, Samsung has finally announced August 23 as the launch date for the Galaxy Note 8, which is one of the most anticipated phones of the year. The South Korean smartphone maker has started sending out media invites for the Galaxy Note 8 that mention "Do bigger things".
This itself indicates that the successor of Note 7 is finally coming. Rumours have suggested that the Galaxy Note 8 will come with a 6.3-inch display, slightly bigger than that of the recently launched Galaxy S8.

Samsung also mentions "Find out what it means to do bigger things on 08.23.2017," in its tweet. Samsung doesn't say much about the smartphone though. All that it highlights is that the device with a big screen is coming.

In the invite image, shared by Samsung Mobile on Twitter on Thursday, shows an outline of a smartphone with an Infinity Display. So, this confirms that the upcoming Note 8 will come with the display similar to that of the Galaxy S8. Rumours leaked earlier also hint the same. Furthermore, it also hints that the device will come with the signature S Pen.

Meanwhile, the fresh renders that have been leaked at bgr.com reveal that the Galaxy Note 8 is likely to be the first Samsung phone to come with dual camera, which is unless the Galaxy C10 that supposed to come with dual-cameras launches before it. In the last one year, dual cameras have made many appearances in high-end phones starting with the iPhone 7 Plus. But so far, Samsung has not joined the bandwagon. That will seemingly change with the Galaxy Note 8.

A report leaked earlier this week reveals that Note 8 release will be carried out in two phases. The first phase will commence in early September, where Samsung is said to release the Note 8 in select markets like -- US, South Korea, and the UK. While in the second phase which is to start in October, Samsung is said to release the smartphone in other markets. This means that the South Korean smartphone manufacturer may bring the Galaxy Note 8 to the Indian market sometime around the month of October.

We have come across several rumours about the Note 8 in the last few months. In terms of specs, the phablet is expected to be powered by Qualcomm's latest flagship processor, the Snapdragon 835 paired with a whopping 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. In some markets, read India, the device will be coming with Samsung's own Exynos processor, similar to how it is with the Galaxy S8 and the S8 Plus, which run a faster Exynos processor in India compared to the Snapdragon 835 that is inside the S8 in the US.

The Galaxy Note 8 is further said to run on the latest version of Android that is 7.1.1 Nougat and may come with audio enhancements, a new battery monitoring app, new S-pen features, (obviously) a 3.5mm headphone jack, S-Pen support, and a USB TypeC port for charging and data transfer. Note 8 is tipped to come with dual cameras set up. According to Minch-Chi Kuo, an analyst at KGI Securities, the Note 8 will come with a 12MP wide-angle CMOS image sensor coupled with a dual photodiode, while will be paired with a 13MP telephoto CIS sensor with 3X zoom. Not much is known about the front camera as of now.

On the pricing front, rumours indicate that Galaxy Note 8 will be priced at around $900, which is roughly around Rs 58,000. In India, after taxes etc the price of the Galaxy Note 8 could be easily over Rs 60,000.
